wow

I never realised it would actually physically hurt.
I didn't mean for her to see that. Crap. Nice going again Suse, you've made yourself look stupid by not learning from past mistakes. Fucking sucks.

Meh. Should probably try and get over it sometime soon. I've only been trying to for the last... what, two years now? Yeah.

Good luck with that one.

Party Political Broadcast

In light of today's election, I thought I'd give a quick politics-for-dummies guide to our beloved potential leaders.
(Disclaimer: I'm an intensely opinionated person. This vote is your own - if you're old enough, make something of it.)

Conservative - The Posh Fascist Party. Lead by David Cameron, these guys are fuckin' ace if you're a rich toff. However, if you're a normal/working class person/not a millionaire, they're shit. Don't vote for them. Cunts.

Liberal Democrats - The Ones In Yellow Who Nobody Usually Pays Much Attention To. Lead by Nick Clegg; while they have a lot of ideas and are a great concept, whether any of these would actually come to fruition is another thing entirely. They have more of a chance this year than any other though, and they're definitely one of the less-bad parties.

Labour - The Ones Everyone Hates. Lead by Gordon Brown. See previous statement. But aside from being scapegoated for everything that's ever gone wrong, ever, Labour really aren't that bad.

The British National Party (BNP) - The Ones Who Hate Everything And Everyone. Lead by Satan, whoops I'm sorry, Nick Griffin. If you're a racist, sexist, homphobic, pro-rape, pro-domestic violence, pro-prejudice, anti-freedom mysoginist fascist, this is the party for you!

The UK Independance Party (UKIP) - The Ones With The Money Sign Logo Thing. BNP-lite, with a little extra racism thrown in for good measure.

The Green Party - The Environ-MENTAL Ones. If you care more about recycling than education, jobs, the economy, the police, the national health service, taxes and pensions, then you probably still can't vote for the Green Party because they're so hideously underrepresented.

The Monster Raving Looney Party - The Ones Who Don't Really Give A Fuck. These guys are hilarious, and really do like to make the running of Britian into a joke. Read their policies, then use your vote somewhere more worthwhile.

Hope this helps people to make an informed decision in 6 months time, during the next general election after the 2010 Hung Parliament.

...But home is nowhere.

If you can only ever see one band in your lifetime, make it AFI.

I've seen over 150 different bands live now, and they are far and away the best. I can't even imagine anyone being better. Last night, seeing them and then meeting Adam (and Hunter, albeit briefly) was actually mindblowing.

A Fire Inside <3

Because I live to rant.

Dear Kerrang!,
I'm writing to tell you that I'm so fucking angry at yet another Hayley Williams cover on your magazine. And this is coming from someone who's been a Paramore fan for years, and has seen them three times.

How are Paramore relevant to this week's music? Have they released anything new? As far as I'm aware, The Only Exception came out weeks ago...

Take, for example, Kids In Glass Houses. They put out a quite frankly fucking stunning new album last Monday, Dirt. They work so hard, and they're genuinely lovely people. Not saying that Paramore don't and aren't, but have KIGH ever had a Kerrang! cover? No, they have not. And they absolutely deserve one.

In fact, the only thing that pissed me off more was that on the week Dirt came out, you put Kurt fucking Cobain on the cover. Again, I'm a fan of Nirvana - hell, I was played them by my parents when I was a baby. But Kurt has been dead for almost as long as I've been alive. While he's very influential and was a great musician, 16 is not a special anniversary and he's totally irrelevant to today's music scene. People idolise the musicians you write about; last week Kurt Cobain was effectively put on the front of your magazine for killing himself. That cover could instead have been used for a band like KIGH, who produce positive music, work hard and enjoy themselves, and it could have been really beneficial to them in shifting a few more albums and building their profile.

As a British magazine, surely you should be taking the initiative and supporting the British music scene a bit more, not giving it a shitty little two-page section a week late in favour of some already-famous, often already decrepid Americans who don't need your help? It's better than nothing, I suppose, but it's really not enough. I realise that popular bands sell magazines for you when they're on the cover, but look, for example, at The Gaslight Anthem? Weren't they worth the risk?

Whether you're a fan of Kids In Glass Houses or not, you cannot deny that they work their socks off; touring seemingly constantly, doing signings up and down the country and doing so much just to make their fans smile. They're just one of many bands who do this and deserve more of a chance!

One last thing - think of how much this would have meant to them as individuals. For Hayley Williams, it's nice, but she's had so many covers it's nothing special. For the rest of Paramore, it's yet another example of them being overlooked in favour of their frontwoman. Kurt Cobain is dead and thus we'll never know if he'd give a fuck, although my opinion is probably not, as he'd have been too busy taking drugs and being miserable. KIGH, on the other hand, seem like the kind of people who grew up reading Kerrang! and dreaming of being in its pages. Finally getting to be on the cover would be amazing for them! It's such an honour; like a final confirmation that you've made it that nobody can take away from you. And they deserve that, so fucking much.

I very much doubt you'll print this, due to it's length, my general profanity, and how it's mainly just insuting you. But I implore you to at least read it and take in the point I'm trying to make - support bands who deserve it, and the magazines will keep selling just because of Kerrang!'s prestige.

Yours rapidly-losing-faith, Susannah Lewis, Peterborough

P.S. If you hadn't noticed, I'm a huge KIGH fan, and I wanted to say thanks to them for always, always being so lovely to me. Everyone should go out and buy their album, Dirt, because, as cheesey as it sounds, it will put sunshine into your life. I promise you won't regret it.

Grr

Bit of pent up agression left over from a couple of weeks ago, but Anna Sidebottom can fuck right off. S'all.

If I'm reincarnated...

...I'd like to come back as a giraffe.

It's tall and gawky and kind of akward, like me. And it's a vegetarian. And it's yellow, which is a nice happy colour. And it has little horn things, which are awesome. And It has a really long tongue, which I wish I had, 'cos mine's pretty short.

Giraffes are rad :)

Dear Now, Now Every Children,

Your music makes me want to cry, and smile, and fall in love, and tell the world all of my secrets, and hold someone's hand, and dance, and dig my nails into someone's skin, and sing, and breathe too deeply, and close my eyes, and whisper along, and hyperventilate, and crack my knuckles, and scrunch my face up, and laugh, and believe that everything is beautiful and I am loved and it's all going to be okay.

Thank you for this.
